Mahatma Ayyankali was a man of action, a true warrior of the Bahujan samaj. When the Dalits of Kerala were forbidden from using public roads, he bought a bullock cart, tied bells to the oxen, and rode through the streets of Travancore armed with a dagger. He forced the ruling classes to recognize our existence through raw courage.
He understood the power of the strike. When Dalit children were denied entry into schools, he organized the first agricultural strike in Indian history, declaring, 'If our children cannot study, your fields will grow weeds.' He proved that the Bahujans hold the ultimate economic power; we only need the consciousness to use it.
महात्मा अय्यंकाली कर्मठ व्यक्ति थे, बहुजन समाज के सच्चे योद्धा थे। जब केरल के दलितों को सार्वजनिक सड़कों का उपयोग करने से मना किया गया था, तो उन्होंने एक बैलगाड़ी खरीदी, बैलों को घंटियाँ बांधी, और खंजर से लैस होकर त्रावणकोर की सड़कों पर निकल पड़े। उन्होंने अपने अदम्य साहस से शासक वर्गों को हमारे अस्तित्व को पहचानने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया।
वे हड़ताल की ताकत को समझते थे। जब दलित बच्चों को स्कूलों में प्रवेश से वंचित कर दिया गया, तो उन्होंने भारतीय इतिहास में पहली कृषि हड़ताल का आयोजन किया, यह घोषणा करते हुए, 'अगर हमारे बच्चे नहीं पढ़ सकते, तो तुम्हारे खेतों में खरपतवार उगेंगे।' उन्होंने साबित कर दिया कि बहुजनों के पास अंतिम आर्थिक शक्ति है; हमें केवल इसका उपयोग करने की चेतना चाहिए।
