While many kings hoarded their wealth, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj used his power to dismantle the caste system from the top down. In 1902, he did what no one else had dared: he implemented the first reservation policy, securing 50% of state jobs for the backward classes. He understood that administration without Bahujan representation is just dictatorship by another name.
He was the crucial patron of Dr. Ambedkar, funding his education and supporting his newspaper Mooknayak. Shahu Maharaj proved that when the ruling authority actively supports social justice, generations can be uplifted. He is the prime example of why we say, 'Political power is the master key.'
