Without Mata Savitribai Phule, the Bahujan samaj would still be living in intellectual darkness. She was the first female teacher in India, but more importantly, she was the first to face the stones and mud thrown by the orthodox elites who feared an educated Bahujan woman. The oppressors knew that if a woman learns to read, she teaches the entire generation to question.
She didn't just teach; she actively fought against the atrocities committed on widows and untouchables. When Jotiba passed away, she led the Satyashodhak Samaj herself, proving that leadership in our movement is not bound by gender. Her life teaches our Bahujan women today that they must take the front lines in the fight for political and social power.
माता सावित्रीबाई फुले के बिना, बहुजन समाज आज भी बौद्धिक अंधकार में जी रहा होता। वे भारत की पहली महिला शिक्षिका थीं, लेकिन इससे भी महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि वे पहली महिला थीं जिन्होंने उन रूढ़िवादी सवर्णों द्वारा फेंके गए पत्थरों और कीचड़ का सामना किया, जो एक शिक्षित बहुजन महिला से डरते थे। उत्पीड़क जानते थे कि यदि कोई महिला पढ़ना सीख लेती है, तो वह पूरी पीढ़ी को सवाल करना सिखा देती है।
उन्होंने केवल पढ़ाया नहीं; उन्होंने विधवाओं और अछूतों पर होने वाले अत्याचारों के खिलाफ सक्रिय रूप से लड़ाई लड़ी। जब जोतीबा का निधन हुआ, तो उन्होंने स्वयं सत्यशोधक समाज का नेतृत्व किया, यह साबित करते हुए कि हमारे आंदोलन में नेतृत्व लिंग से बंधा नहीं है। उनका जीवन आज हमारी बहुजन महिलाओं को सिखाता है कि उन्हें राजनीतिक और सामाजिक सत्ता की लड़ाई में सबसे आगे रहना चाहिए।
