Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur was a politician who never forgot where he came from. When he became Chief Minister of Bihar, he didn't just enjoy the chair; he used it to distribute power. He introduced the first comprehensive reservation model that specifically recognized the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), recognizing that inequality exists even within the oppressed.
The upper castes unleashed violent protests and hurled the worst abuses at him, simply because a man from the Nai (barber) community dared to alter the power structure. His legacy teaches us that state power must be used swiftly to dismantle structural inequality, no matter the backlash from the privileged classes.
जननायक कर्पूरी ठाकुर एक ऐसे राजनेता थे जो कभी नहीं भूले कि वे कहाँ से आए हैं। जब वे बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री बने, तो उन्होंने केवल कुर्सी का आनंद नहीं लिया; उन्होंने सत्ता का वितरण करने के लिए इसका इस्तेमाल किया। उन्होंने पहला व्यापक आरक्षण मॉडल पेश किया जिसने विशेष रूप से अति पिछड़े वर्गों (EBCs) को मान्यता दी, यह मानते हुए कि उत्पीड़ितों के भीतर भी असमानता मौजूद है।
