In Bengal, Guruchand Thakur mobilized the Namasudra community, turning a marginalized group into a formidable political force. He led the Matua Mahasangha, using spiritual awakening as a tool for political and social organization. He knew that without a united front, the upper castes would always divide and rule us.
He didn't just preach; he built schools and aggressively demanded government jobs for the Bahujans from the British. He showed that when a community stands united under one banner, even the mightiest governments are forced to negotiate. His legacy is a masterclass in independent political mobilization.
